The Blue Springs Education Foundation revealed their latest innovation last night during the Women’s Endowing Education (WEE) fall celebration; the WEE Learning Bus!
The WEE Learning Bus will be nothing more than spectacular. The bus will be a self contained computer lab on wheels that will service all areas of the Blue Springs Community. In an effort to increase the connections of families with schools, the foundation has awarded the 2011 WEE Grant to develop, build and operate a high tech computer lab that will provide families in our community access to computers and the internet. Inside the vehicle, the foundation will offer homework assistance to students each evening while outside the vehicle, foundation volunteers will seek to expand relationships with parents and families. When the grant announcement was made, the members erupted with excitement.
“Today we take another important step on our journey to increase connections with our community and our families,” said Steve Brown, Director of Transportation for the Blue Springs School District. He added, “A long and rich history of delivering high quality instruction has always been our priority. With the addition of the WEE Learning Bus, this focus will be realized for years to come.”
Planning and design of the Extreme School Bus makeover will commence immediately by a group of dedicated WEE volunteers. Once the design is complete, construction and modifications will take place and the goal is to unveil the mobile computer lab late Spring, 2012.
